We’re building community. We want to be to death what Netmums is to birth. We keep in touch with customers to build relationships so that when they are ready to commit, they know and trust us. Ours is a niche site, so it’s full of people who are already interested in your services. We offer lots of information so people can ease themselves into a difficult subject.

What sort of traffic does Final Fling get?

On average, we have 8,000 unique visitors every month. Most days are around the 300 mark; our peak days have reached 3,000 a day. We’ve had 110,000 visits in the last year. We had half a million hits in our first two years from launch in April 2012.

Who are we targeting?

The 3.5 million Baby Boomers who are hitting pension age and who are likely to want to stay in control, have a voice and do things differently. We’re ideal for the 85% of shoppers who browse online before they buy.

Who’s our typical customer?

‘Flingers’ tend to be web savvy, independent thinkers. They’re mostly 45-65 year olds… 60% of them women. We attract ‘upstream planners’: the family planners thinking about their own security and sometimes that of dependent children and ageing parents.
